FREE APPLE PRESSING DAY & SAUSAGE SIZZLE - Saturday 19th September 1 - 4pm.
Bring a bucket of apples to crush and press then have a sizzling sausage. The event is to be held by the large hut as you go into the Bluebell south side allotments. You will also need a container for the juice. It depends upon how juicy your apples are but a bucket of apples should give you two to three pints. Don't use glass bottles as apple juice will start to ferment and cause the bottle to pressurise. A fizzy drink bottle is ideal as they are designed to be presurised.
There is a very good article here on clearing murky apple juice after pressing on the Allotment & Vegetable Gardening website.
THANK YOU - Unthank Arms Half-Baked Day - Sunday, 5th July
A huge thank you to everyone who made a donation for the stall at the Unthank Arms on their Half-Baked day. Your kind gifts raised £81.70 for the Macmillan Cancer Support. Special thanks to Flo and Bernadette for their support on the day.

WISLEY TRIP 2009
"This was my first visit and I was surprised at how much there was to see. The Glasshouse was interesting showing temperate, tropical and desert plants at their best. With over 200 acres there was a lot of ground to cover but plenty of seating to rest weary legs, have your sandwiches or just admire the surroundings. Seats by the lake enable you to share your lunch with the fish that leap out of the water to compete with the ducks and moorhens, (take an extra sandwich). The Model Allotments were obviously on the list and it was oddly comforting to see that even the RHS can grow the odd wilting runner bean and have asparagus that had been attacked by the bugs! The trial gardens were a delight especially the comparison beds of delphiniums, sweet peas and even hanging baskets. Well done Fliss, a great day out." - Robert H
