I've been watching the rain and thinking "Great". I'm going to get cracking on the digging and clearing the last few brambles to spud it up in the spring.Space at the front; need to call Alan and get a delivery.

First I've got to get my lean to built in the back garden; clear some space to finally transplant

my hazel and dogwood saplings. Hope the chickens haven't killed them with all their scratching.

the first of my cucumbers are almost ready to munch so soon be able to provide the whole salad supplies for my diet as the scarecrow is on a shrinking mission and has consumed lots of the stuff in his effort to lose weight.

Hi Scarecrow, the caterpillars have reduced my cabbages to skeletons too.  Did your cucumber get the mildew.  My courgettes got it and have died as wth the butternut squash.  I think they were too squashed in.  Shame, because the courgettes were brilliant last year.  I think we have learned that you just can't water the allotment too much to water it double to what anyone else says. We plan to double dose it with horse manure this autumn for next year.  I was speaking to another allotment holder who had done just that and his allotment is beautiful.  Hope to see you at the applepressing sausage sizzle.  Sharon

This week, I have mostly been clearing the peas and beans patches, and in their place planting some oriental salad and Kohl Rabi (or however you spell it!). Gardeners World reckoned it was worth planting some now as it should come up pretty quickly, so here's hoping it works out well :D

Hi Not a lot Doing at the moment seem to spend most of the time dodging showers and gathering beans for the freezer the runners have been a surprise as they looked quite sorrow for themselves early on but have recovered well and am quite pleased with them.

Have to think about another compost heap as the amount of waste generated from all the veg is enourmous
